There is a growing sense of renewal across the Redditch Mission Area, and it isn’t just the arrival of spring. It is the visible, tangible commitment of our congregations to cherish and protect God’s creation. Today, we share some truly wonderful news that celebrates the hard work and heart our churches have poured into the Eco Church initiative.
Celebrating Our Successes
We are thrilled to announce that St Leonard’s, Beoley has officially been awarded the Silver Eco Church Award! This is a significant milestone that reflects their deep integration of environmental stewardship into their worship, buildings, and community outreach.
Joining them in this green wave are St John’s, Greenlands, St Stephen’s, Redditch, and St Bartholomew’s, Tardebigge, all of whom have successfully earned their Bronze Awards. From encouraging wildlife and energy-efficient lighting to ethical lifestyle challenges, these churches are proving that small, intentional changes lead to a massive collective impact.
Your Turn to Grow
The Eco Church survey isn’t just a “box-ticking” exercise; it’s a framework for mission. It asks us to consider how we care for the earth in five key areas:
- Worship and Teaching
- Management of Church Buildings
- Management of Church Land
- Community and Global Engagement
- Lifestyle
If your church hasn’t started the journey yet, or if you’ve stalled at the first hurdle, don’t walk alone. The Redditch Mission Area is here to walk alongside you. Whether you need help navigating the survey, ideas for your churchyard, or simply a bit of encouragement to get a “Green Team” started, we are ready to support you. We also have the support of Revd Sue Adeney who leads the Eco Church initiative for the Diocese. More information on a meeting with Revd Sue will be coming out shortly!
